Meanwhile, in Manila, Philippines, a rugby player identified as Lito Ramirez reminisced moments in his life when he was still an orphan.

When Ramirez was just six years old, he was addicted to sniffing adhesive solution to get ‘high’ sensations. He survived going through trash and begging for spare change.

The turning point in his story was the lucky incident that the brand of the adhesive he and other kids sniffed was actually “Rugby”.

He says he can still remember the brand name despite of quitting the usage for years as he attempted to start his new life in an orphanage in Manila.

The counselors in the orphanage reportedly encouraged Ramirez to participate in a sport. But he did not want to play football or basketball, despite being the two most common favorites.

So the counselors asked if Ramirez is interested in playing rugby.

In a conversation with AFP, Ramirez revealed that he did not have any idea that rugby was a sport. He confused it with the brand of adhesive he used to sniff. He said:

“I didn’t have any idea it was a sport. I thought it was the glue. That’s why I chose rugby for sports.”

This is according to an article from Philstar.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
