Duterte’s Newly Appointed PCSO Head Has Plans
DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Cebu City Police Chief Royina Garma as the new PCSO head.
Following a previous article, President Rodrigo Duterte fired the general manager of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Alexander Balutan for corruption.
“The Palace confirms that President Duterte has terminated the services of PCSO general manager Alexander Balutan on his present post due to serious allegations of corruption,” said Palace Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.
The former PCSO chief allegedly gave an unacceptable amount that does not reach the targeted income of the lottery.
President Duterte surely doesn’t want any government employee who takes advantage of the Filipinos money.
The PCSO raises funds for the Philippine government’s health and medical assistance programs.
On Monday, President Duterte announced that he has appointed a new general manager of PCSO during his speech at the premiere night of the film ‘Kontradiksyon’ in Ortigas mall.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Cebu City police chief Royina Garma is set to replace the former PCSO general manager Alexander Balutan.
The 45-year-old policewoman said she’s aware of the corruption issue and already has plans.
“I have done my research. I know what are the pressing issues at PCSO… I already have plans, but I don’t want to divulge it right now because it is still premature,” said Garma.
According to the report, Royina Garma said leaving the PNP organization was hard since she’s been in service for 24 years already.
“It is going to be an extremely different situation for me since I will be moving from public service to the corporate world,” Garma said.
We can all hope that the plans of the new PCSO chief will end all the corruption in the Philippine lottery.
