Here’s Reason Why Captain Of Boat Sank By Chinese Canceled His Meeting W/ Duterte

CAPTAIN OF BOAT – Here is the reason why the captain of the Filipino boat canceled his meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte.

Following a previous article, President Rodrigo Duterte was set to meet the captain of the fishing boat that’s sunk by Chinese today, June 17.

The Mayor of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro said the captain and fishing boat’s cook couldn’t come due to personal reasons.

President Duterte stayed silent on the collision in the Reed Bank in the West Philippine Sea. Palace Spokesperson Salvador Panelo defended the president’s reaction towards the issue.

“The President is a very cautious man. If you notice, he makes calibrated responses,” Panelo said.

Based on a report from News5, the captain of the Filipino fishing vessel release a statement on why he couldn’t come to his planned meeting with Duterte today.

Jonnel Insigne said he’s not feeling well and he hasn’t recovered much after the incident at the Reed Bank.

“Medyo sumama po ang aking pakiramdam kaya’t hindi ko pa kayang bumyahe… Sobrang pagod na pagod na po ako, stress na po,” said Insigne.

He and his 21 crew members have been floating with their sinking boat for three hours, good thing Vietnamese fishermen passed and rescued them.

According to the report, Jonnel Insigne suggested that if the president wants to offer help, he preferred to just send it in Occidental Mindoro.

“Saakin lang, kung tutulong e-ano [padala] kung tutulong, pero kung pupunta pa ako dun hindi na po kaya,” he said.

Based on the report, the captain also said he felt disappointed on the statement of Energy Sec. Alfonso Cusi saying the collision barely damaged their boat.

“Talagang masama po ang loob ko… Hindi po totoo yun, talagang sinadya po kaming binanggain ng Chinese fishing vessel,” said Insigne.

In a previous article, the largest group of Filipino-Chinese businessmen in the country offered help to the 22 fishermen and their families.
