3 Female Students Out To Look for Wood Drowned in River in Benguet

FEMALE STUDENTS – Three(3) students who were supposedly out to look for wood drowned in a river in the province of Benguet.

Undeniably, there are always risks if small children would go somewhere on their own without the supervision of an adult. The risks are heightened when they are near the bodies of water.

The current and the depth of some bodies of water cannot be predicted most especially when rain comes prompting the rising of the water level.

Recently, a heartbreaking news report about an incident in a body of water in Benguet crossed the surface.

Female Students

Based on a recent report on Balimtambayan of GMA News, three(3) female students drowned in a river in Benguet.

According to the police authorities, four(4) students who are classmates went out to look for wood. Two of them are aging nine years old while the other is seven years old. The other student’s age was not specified.

The students went to a river near their school in Itogon. According to one of the kids, the three(3) other students decided to swim in the river.

However, one(1) of them drowned and the two(2) tried to save her until they drowned too. The other member of the group who did not swim asked for help.

Based on the report, the bodies of the three(3) female students who drowned in a Benguet river were found after an hour of search and rescue operation. They were still holding each other’s hands.

The students were brought to the hospital which is more than an hour from the school. Sadly, the girls were declared dead on arrival.

The victims were identified as Angel Hernandez and Kyle Mae Fernandez who are both Grade 9 students and Dickzy Mae Catos, a seven-year-old Grade 7 students.

Currently, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is investigating the incident. They are looking into why the kids were allowed to go out and look for wood.
