Sultan Kudarat Hit by Earthquake with 5.4 Magnitude Today (June 6, 2019)
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 5.4 magnitude quake in Sultan Kudarat today, June 6, 2019.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.
Recently, a strong quake has hit a part of the country. At 04:41 am today, June 6, 2019, Sultan Kudarat was rocked by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Sultan Kudarat was located at 06.35°North, 124.42°East – 029 km North 60° East of Palimbang.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 476 kilometers. Intensity I was felt in General Santos City.
Based on the bulletin posted by Phivolcs on its official Twitter page, there are no expected damages caused by the quake but there may be aftershocks.
