JUST IN: Power Interruption May Arise In Some Parts of Luzon Now

Some Parts of Luzon May Experience Power Interruption Anytime Now

Power Interruption may arise in some parts of Luzon anytime now as the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) conducts Manual Load Dropping.

Previously, there were several times when the power supply decreased and the NGCP had to implement certain measures to combat it. One of the things considered by the institution is the Manual Load Dropping.

Also called as MLD, the Manual Load Dropping can help improve the stability of the power system most especially when the demand is high.

Currently, the NGCP is implementing the MLD in several parts in Luzon to “maintain the integrity of the power system”. Thus, power interruption may arise.

Power Interruption

Based on the recent social media post on the official Facebook page of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, the following are the areas which may be affected by the MLD between 2:00 to 3:00 pm today, May 3:

  • BENECO (parts of Baguio City and Benguet)
  • CEDC and PELCO II (parts of Pampanga)
  • PENELCO (parts of Bataan)
  • AEC (parts of Angeles City, Pampanga)
  • QUEZELCO II (parts of Quezon)
  • FLECO (parts of Laguna)
  • CANORECO (parts of Camarines Norte)
  • CASURECO II (parts of Camarines Sur)
  • APEC (parts of Albay)
  • MERALCO (parts of Metro Manila)

According to the NGCP, the scheduled Manual Load Dropping may be cancelled in case the condition of the system has improved like the demand fell below the projections.

In line with this, the institution is encouraging the public to conserve electricity.

We’ll keep you posted for further updates.
