It is summer season in the Philippines now and the perfect time to go for some vacation at the beach. The children have no classes now while the adults can take the chance to file for a leave from work and spend some bonding time with the family.

However, before going on a trip, it is important to look on the other aspect of the summer season like the bad effects of the summer heat. In this way, we can prevent its negative effects or we will know what to do right away.

One of the most common things that people encounter during summer season is sunburn. Undeniably, the heat of the sun is so intense now that it might not only darken your skin but post serious health conditions.

Sunburn is undeniably hard to avoid most especially if you are coming to a beach. But, there are things that you should do right away in case you have it.

1. Cold compress

Look for ice and then put it on a pail of water. Let it cool and then use the water in taking a shower or bath. Do it quickly and avoid using harsh soap to avoid further skin irritation.

2. Use moisturizing lotion

Use moisturizing lotion on the affected areas while the skin is damp. To avoid the trapping of the heat in your skin, do not use petroleum or ointments that are made of oil.

3. Keep your body hydrated

Based on the article, dermatologist Jeffrey Brackeen expressed that burns draw fluid to the surface of the skin thus dehydration may occur. It is important to replenish and keep the body hydrated.

4. Visit a doctor

If the burn covers a large portion of the body most especially if the affected person is a child, it is best to advice the recommendation of the doctor. Fever and chills are also signs that you need to see a doctor right away.
