PROFESSIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE REQUIREMENTS – Here is a list of the requirements needed in applying for a Professional Driver’s License to the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

If you want to be a driver who is licensed to drive any type of vehicle in the Philippines, you should apply for a Professional Driver’s License at the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Apart from the other LTO Driver’s License (Non-Professional), with PDL, there is no limit in terms of the gross weight of the vehicle that you are allowed to drive. You can drive from the smallest to the biggest cars.

There are only a few Professional Driver’s License requirements that you need to comply in applying for PDL to LTO.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has taken on its official website the full list of the Professional Driver’s License Requirements that must be prepared in applying for PDL. Here is the list:

  • Duly accomplished Application for Driver’s License (ADL);
  • For RC 1,2,4 and 6 – Must be a holder of a valid SP issued at least six (6) months prior to the application.
    For RC 3,5,7 and 8 – Must be a holder of a valid NPDL issued at least one (1) year prior to the application or PDL holder with RC 1,2,4 and 6 for a period of at least six (6) months prior to the application.
  • Medical Certificate issued by any licensed practicing physician stating that the applicant is physically and mentally fit to operate a motor vehicle (or work, in the case of applications for Conductor’s License);
  • National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) NBI Clearance
  • Philippine National Police (PNP) Clearance
  • In addition, for foreigners, original and photocopy of passport with entry of at least one (1) year from date of application, or if born in the Philippines, present original and photocopy of a birth certificate duly authenticated by the NSO.

With regards to the ADL, you may ask for a copy of it from any Land Transportation Office (LTO). Submit your duly-accomplished ADL together with the requirements.

If you pass the qualification and your documents has no problem, proceed to photo capture, payment of fees, and written examination. For successful applicants, wait for the release of your PDL cards and write your name and sign on the Released Form.
