Dugong Found Dead in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental

Another sea-creature called Dugong or knows as Sea Cow has been found dead in Barangay Zone 6, town of Pulupandan in Negros Occidental.

PULUPANDAN, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – a 9.5 feet sea cow or locally knows as “Dugong” has been found dead by the residents.

The sea cow has been found along the coastal waters of Barangay Zone 6 in the town of Pulupandan.

Mahjie Infante, head of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office in the area said that the marine mammal will undergo a necropsy test.

The necropsy test will be conducted to determine the marine creature’s real cause of death. The sea creature is now under the state of decomposition.

Dugong is a medium-size marine mammal that can be usually found throughout the territories of Indo-West Pacific.

Sea cow is also the only strictly herbivorous marine mammal and was hunted to extinction in the 18th century.
