Partial List of Senatorial Candidates for Election 2019
ELECTION 2019 – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) released the partial list of the senatorial candidates for the 2019 midterm election this May.
The election is fast approaching and many people are already contemplating on who to vote in the upcoming bid. In the area of senatorial bid, lots of individuals have filed their candidacies.
Some senatorial aspirants are private individuals while others are prominent faces in politics and showbiz. Some candidates are seeking for re-election, some are on their first bid, and others are seeking for a comeback.
Previously, the COMELEC disqualified senatorial bids for the 2019 election. It followed the commission’s law department filing for the rejection of certain bids tagged as “nuisance” in the upcoming election.
The COMELEC disqualified 70 senatorial bids but the aspiring candidates were given the chance to make an appeal over their candidacy. The number of the party-list groups were also cracked down from 182 to 154.
Recently, the commission released the partial list of the senatorial candidates for the Election 2019. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, citing Christian Esguerra’s post, the partial list contains 76 names.
However, COMELEC spokesperson James Jimenez clarified that there might be changes on the list as 13 names are still faced with “pending finality”. It includes Senator Koko Pimentel and former Sen. Sergio Osmeña III.
