Storm Warning Signals Raised by PAGASA in the Following Areas

The state weather bureau PAGASA raised storm warning signals in the following areas due to the effects of Tropical Depression Usman.

On Thursday afternoon (December 27, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised tropical cyclone warning Signal No. 1 over some parts of the country.

The TCWS has been raised due to the effects of Tropical Depression Usman packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 65 kph.

Usman was last spotted at 450 kilometers (km) east of Surigao City in Surigao del Norte or 440 km east-southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said that Usman may intensify into a tropical storm before it makes a landfall over Eastern Samar on Friday (December 28, 2018).

The weather disturbance was expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning (December 31, 2018).
