Tawi-Tawi Hit by 4.2 Magnitude Earthquake
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in South Ubian, Tawi-Tawi.
Recently, several quakes have hit different parts of the world in and out of the Philippines. Russia was recently jolted by a 7.4 magnitude quake that initially sparked tsunami warnings.
In the Philippines, four(4) quakes have consecutively hit Occidental Mindoro. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries and damages caused by the incidents.
Recently, Phivolcs recorded another quake that jolted a part of PH. Based on the official bulletin released by the institute, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit South Ubian, Tawi-Tawi this morning, December 24, 2018.
According to Phivolcs, the quake was located 03.45°North, 122.55°East – 299 km South 50° East of South Ubian, Tawi-Tawi. It hit at 05:28:06 in the morning today.
The quake was tectonic in origin. It has a 597 km. depth of focus. Meanwhile, based on the bulletin, no damage and aftershock are expected of the said quake.
