Sandiganbayan’s Not Guilty Judgment Elicits Reactions from the Family of Ex-Senator Bong Revilla

BONG REVILLA – The family of former Philippine Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. reacted to the not guilty judgment of the Sandiganbayan.

After four years of being detained in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, former Senator Bong Revilla can finally spend Christmas together with his family.

The former Senator was faced with plunder charges over his alleged involvement in the Pork Barrel Scam. The said big corruption controversy refers to the alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

Former Senator Bong Revilla was detained in Camp Crame since 2014. During special occasions, he would usually seek the permission of the court to be with his family for a few hours.

Former Sen. Bong Revilla is the husband of Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado. Among their children are actors Jolo Revilla and Bryan Revilla.

Recently, the Sandiganbayan has given its judgment on Revilla’s plunder case. The court found him not guilty of plunder with three Justices siding for the acquittal of Revilla.

Revilla went out of the court happy. Many of his fans and supporters waited for him outside and were very happy for the acquittal of the former Senator.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN, former Sen. Bong Revilla’s family has also given their reaction on the not guilty judgment of the Sandiganbayan.

Speaking to the media outside the court, Jolo Revilla expressed his gratitude to the supporters of his father for their love.

“Ramdam namin ito lahat. Masaya po ang aming Pasko kasi makakasama na namin siya,” the actor-politician said.

Based on the report, speaking to DZMM Teleradyo, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado expressed that it would be the “Best Christmas” for their family.

“God is really, really good. Best Christmas ever sa aming pamilya,” the wife of former Sen. Revilla expressed.

According to Lani, their family is hoping that they can bring the former Senator home in Bacoor tonight. She stressed that he is excited to see his dad, former Sen. Ramon Revilla Sr.

Based on the report, former Sen. Bong Revilla is acquitted from the plunder case but he is still facing 16 counts of graft. He posted a bail of Php 480,000.00 after the promulgation.
