Filipino music icon Freddie Aguilar is one of the hopeful senatorial candidates who went early to Commission On Elections office to file his certificate of candidacy.

Early this year, there had been talks that he will also enter the world of politics. He is just among the personalities in the entertainment industry who crossed over to public service.

Based on the article published in ABS-CBN, he will be running as Senator under the party of President Rodrigo Duterte, the PDP-Laban.

Minutes prior to Aguilar’s candidacy registration, PDP-Laban president and Senator Koko Pimentel first filed his COC for re-election as Senator.

Aside from Freddie Aguilar, other prominent personalities who were earlier perceived to run under PDP-Laban are  Jiggy Manicad, Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino and former Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson.

In line with Aguilar’s filing of candidacy, several netizens expressed their reactions.

Twitter user @iamgoddie05 said that the filing of COC of Ka Freddie is a big joke. The netizen added that the singer is anticipating very much that he will win.

Furthermore, Twitter user @JJimenski said that this will be the start of the circus. Twitter user @jokerxy added that Freddie Aguilar is just a nuisance candidate.

Meanwhile, Twitter user @itsMarkHuang joked that the Filipino music icon will give a free concert.

“Oy ano ito the unknown cast of Jurrasic Park movie , yon group na kakainin lang ni T Rex . Screen time nila 4 seconds lang,” Twitter user @clavenilo commented to Freddie Aguilar.

The filing of certificate of candidacy starts on October 11 and it will be until October 17 only, based on the election calendar that Comelec released.
