Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN, Sen. Sotto wants to give the national anthem of the country a more optimistic meaning.

Instead of a line expressing that Filipinos are ready to die for the Philippines, the Senate President is thinking about proposing to change it to express the commitment of the people in defending the country.

From “Aming ligaya na ‘pag may mang-aapi, ang mamatay nang dahil sa’yo” to “Aming ligaya na ‘pag may mang-aapi, ang ipaglaban kalayaan mo”.

  1. I donot agree…history, culture.must be preserved. The school helps in reminding our youths their.roots, must stay in the curriculum. There is no problem with it…is there? No need to change. Let it stay for the next generation to appreciate, cultivate.patriotism, and love for our country, our people.

  2. I actually agree, this song does not totally represent the bravery of our forefathers but tempers it in colonial words. Especially the last part which should be “ang pumatay ng dahil sayo” which is agressive and hopeful not “ang mamatay ng dahil sayo” which is desperate and hopeless. It is time we have to reshape our history, and our national anthem should represent that. Our forefathers were from clans of known warriors, not a representation of a martyrdom they so resists. They died because they kill our enemies and in so doing their bravery must be emboldened in the national anthem.

  3. Sen. Sotto you are also a composer, how would you feel if they will revise your composition? Di ba feeling mo binastos ka. Respect, what was done is already history why change it. There are more important matters to attend to in Congress than what you are proposing. What a disgrace in you. Might as well go back to Eat Bulaga.

  4. Kung anu-ano iniisip. Ano ba yan?

Rice Terraces?

  5. ose Palma wrote the lyrics of Nathional anthem While Juan Felipe compose the tune. And who are they? They are heroes who fought and died for our nation.
So who is Tito Sotto? Just a senator…an actor.
Before palitan and huling linya ng ating national anthem bakit hinde muna palakasin ang peso and ayusin ang traffic sa Manila pag nagawa nya yon then may guts kana na mag request na e revise ito.😊 just saying

  6. Kapag nirevise ba ang Philippine National Anthem:

    6. Lalakas ba ang Peso laban sa Dollar

If the answer is Yes then Go! If not, unahin ninyo ang mas.importanteng mga bagay.
