Super Typhoon Mangkhut Is Now Under Category 5 Storm
Super Typhoon Mangkhut is now under Category 5 storm and currently hitting the northern Luzon with intense winds and torrential rains.
On Saturday morning (September 15, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest updates about Typhoon Ompong.
PAGASA said that Ompong packing maximum sustained winds of 200 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 330 kilometers per hour has made a landfall in Baggao, Cagayan.
Ompong, the strongest typhoon struck the country this year is moving 35 kph and enhancing the southwest monsoon affecting parts of the country.
The weather agency also warned the residents along the coastal areas of Cagayan and Isabela province to take precautionary measures for possible 19-feet storm surges.
According to some reports, Typhoon Mangkhut is on track to be as strong as Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
The ferocious winds and heavy rains brought by Ompong in the country is equivalent of a Category 5 storm.
