Newest Update On Typhoon Ompong (Sept. 15 – 4pm) Issued By PAGASA
The state weather bureau PAGASA released the latest update regarding Typhoon Ompong as of 4pm on Saturday.
On Saturday (September 15, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the newest updates regarding Typhoon Mangkhut.
PAGASA reported that Typhoon Ompong maintained its maximum sustained winds of 170 kilometers per hour (kph) and 260 kph.
The typhoon’s eye was last spotted at 85 kilometers west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte moving west-northwest at 25 kph.
Ompong is the strongest storm that hits the country this year lashed the northern Luzon with ferocious winds and torrential rains causing floods and landslides.
The powerful tropical cyclone toppled billboards, uprooted trees, ripped off roofs, cut off electricity supply and communication lines.
The government officials also confirmed that at least two people have died due to the big typhoon.
The weather agency has not lifted the storm warning signal in some areas.
