Pres. Duterte’s National Address Set Today, September 11, Sparks Reaction from Sen. De Lima
DE LIMA – Detained Senator Leila de Lima reacted to the scheduled national address of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte today, September 11.
Yesterday, the public’s attention was caught by reports that Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte will make a national address today. Speculations on what the statement of the national leader will be all about crossed the surface.
Some thought that the President might express how tired he really is because of the problems of the country while some thought that he will issue warnings to certain people. There are also those who are hopeful that he will tackle about the speedy inflation rate.
One of those who reacted to the sudden national address of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is Senator Leila de Lima.
Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, Sen. Leila de Lima said in a statement that Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte should talk about the high inflation rate in his national address.
The lady Senator is currently detained over alleged drug involvement. She is one of the staunch critics of the Chief Executive.
Aside from stressing that Pres. Duterte should talk about the economy of the country, Sen. De Lima also emphasized that it is not the time for him to “play politics”.
“Now is not the time for the President to play politics. Now is the time for the President to respect and uphold the Constitution.” she said according to the report.
Sen. Leila de Lima reportedly expressed that the Filipino people desire to hear about the preparations for the upcoming “super typhoon” and the answer of the government to the inflation rate.
The move of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to make a national address followed his international trips. It also followed the revocation of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV‘s amnesty grant through Duterte Proclamation No. 572.
Currently, the Filipino people are waiting for the national address of Pres. Duterte. It is set to happen at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon today.
