Third Arrest Warrant For Sen. Leila de Lima Finally Out

The third arrest warrant for the drug case of detained Senator Leila de Lima has been finally released by Muntinlupa Court.

Senator Leila de Lima and five other personalities were arrested and charged with the proliferation of illegal drugs filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The lawmaker allegedly allowed the illegal drug trade inside and outside the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) to fund her candidacy as Senator during her term as justice secretary.

Third Arrest Warrant

De Lima and her personal driver Ronnie Dayan got arrested in February 2017 and detained at the custodial center of the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City, and eventually transferred to Muntinlupa police detention cell.

Former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director Franklin Bucayu and his alleged bagman, Wilfredo Elli, De Lima’s former aide, Joenel Sanchez, and National Bilibid Prison high-profile prisoner Jaybee Sebastian were also arrested along with the lawmaker.

Last June 2017, Judge Amelia Fabros-Cruz has issued the second warrant of arrest for De Lima and her alleged conspirators.

Third Arrest Warrant

On Tuesday (November 28, 2017), Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 206 Judge Patria Manalastas-De Leon has released the third arrest warrant in a two-page order for Senator De Lima and her driver Ronnie Dayan after founding a probable cause for their arrest.
