Former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez Admits Being Hurt
ALVAREZ – Davao del Norte Representative Pantaleon Alvarez broke his silence on being ousted as the Speaker of the House of Representatives and replaced by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Based on a report, an unexpected scenario happened before the delivery of the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte happened at Batasan Pambansa on Sunday.
While Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez and Senate Pres. Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto were welcoming Pres. Duterte at the entrance, former Pres. Arroyo was on the rostrum at the Plenary Hall and she has taken her oath as the new House Speaker.
Reportedly, Pres. Duterte talked to Davao del Norte Rep. Alvarez and to Pampanga Rep. Arroyo separately. The election was formalized after the SONA of the 73-year-old national leader. It was Alvarez who served as the House Speaker at the event.

The unexpected scenario gathered different reactions from the people. Undeniably, many were surprised and there are those who did not like what happened.
Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, speaking at the mass oath-taking of the newly elected officials in Tagum City, former House Speaker Alvarez admitted that he was hurt as he is just a person. Meanwhile, according to him, he felt hurt only for a day until he saw the reaction of the people.

The former House Speaker stressed that it already happened and it is fine with him. He expressed that the members have decided to replace him and he respects their decision.
Based on the report, former House Speaker Alvarez and current House Speaker Arroyo have already talked about the “smooth transition” so it won’t anymore be messy. He is set to run for congressman as he has promised to his district.
