FIBA WORLD CUP – The Gilas players Aguilar, Castro, and Blatche finally release statements over behavior on controversial brawl against Australia’s Boomers.
According to a previous article, the brawl sparked when Philippines guard RR Pogoy hit Chris Goulding of the opposing team with an elbow thus, Pogoy received an aggressive forearm from Australia’s Boomer Daniel Kickert.
A lot of celebrities has reacted to it and fellow athletes from the PBA as well reacted to it to which some have said that it was such an embarrassment.
Gilas coach Jong Uichico even apologized for his involvement on the heated fight between the two teams as “emotions got the better of him like a father who cares about his sons”.
Terrence Romeo has already expressed his side over this controversy and stated in a Twitter post he is unapologetic for helping a teammate of whom he already considered a family and a brother.
And the three players from Gilas Pilipinas team such as Japeth Aguilar, Jayson Castro, and Andray Blatche have issued their public apology stating their regrets over their reactions that sparked a riot on the court.
Japeth Aguilar says, “I admit that we acted on emotion rather than logic an this is regrettable.”

Jayson Castro also stated, “Dapat naiwasan ang mga pangyayari kagabi at humihingi ako ng paumanhin sa lahat ng nakapanood at nadismaya.”

“I wanna apologize to my [teammates] and the [Australia] team for my wrong doings. I have a son and that’s not what I want him to follow behind,” Blatche indicated.
