Why was Vice Ganda absent at the 66th FAMAS Awards Night?
VICE GANDA – Kapamilya actor-comedian Vice Ganda broke his silence on his absence at the 66th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards Night.
Vice Ganda is one of the recipients of the awards given by FAMAS this 2018. He is the very first recipient of the Dolphy King of Comedy award. However, based on a report, the move of FAMAS to give the award to the Kapamilya comedian was followed by an issue.
Entertainment writer Gorgy Rula criticized the decision of the award-giving body. The writer stressed that Vic Sotto has more achievements than Vice. The Kapamilya actor, in his responses, suggested ways on how to make the writer happy.
According to a report, Epy and Eric Quizon, the sons of the late Comedy King Dolphy, have previously expressed support on the decision of FAMAS to give the award to Vice Ganda. The former even stressed that, for him, the Kapamilya comedian really deserving of the award.
At the 66th FAMAS Awards Night, it was Vice Ganda’s mother Nanay Rosario and his sister Dra. Tina Viceral who came to receive the award for the Unkabogable Star. Epy Quizon and his nephew Boy 2 Quizon were the ones who gave the award as Eric Quizon was in the United States for work.
Speaking to Pep at the set of the ABS-CBN noontime variety show It’s Showtime, Vice revealed that he has a commitment on that night which he has already set earlier and he wanted his mother to be the one to receive the award and hold the trophy first.
“Gusto kong paakyatin ang Nanay ko. Gusto kong pa-experience sa kanya yun, kasi pride niya yun, e. Masaya ako sa award na yun pero mas magiging masaya ang Nanay ko,” he said.
Based on the report, Vice Ganda is thankful to the family of the late Comedy King Dolphy and as well as to FAMAS. According to the actor-comedian, he was the “personal pick” of the Quizon family and the “unanimous” choice of the award-giving body.
