Joel Cruz Defends Self, Company Against Kathy Dupaya’s Allegations
JOEL CRUZ – Prominent businessman Joel Cruz broke his silence on the allegations of Brunei-based businesswoman Kathelyn ‘Kathy’ Dupaya against him and his company.
Recently, Joel Cruz revealed that he has invested P40-million to businesswoman Kathy Dupaya who is based in Brunei and was not able to get his money back. Cruz is the owner of the company behind the prominent perfume brand Aficionado.
Based on a report, Joel has already decided to take a legal action regarding the matter. The businessman has filed a case against Dupaya at the Department of Justice in Quezon City. His lawyer is Attorney Ferdinand Topacio.
As per another report, Joel Cruz is not the only celebrity claiming that Kathy Dupaya was not able to return the money that he has invested. Kapuso actress Sunshine Cruz also has a similar claim with the Aficionado owner.
Kathy Dupaya has previously revealed her side on the issue and the allegations against her. Based on a report in Pep, Joel Cruz has also recently broken his silence to defend himself and his company from the allegations of the Brunei-based businesswoman.
Speaking to Pep, the Aficionado owner expressed that it was not him who was so eager to meet Kathy. According to him, it was ‘Joey Sarmiento’ who introduced the businesswoman to her.
“Gusto raw akong makilala ni Kathy Dupaya sabi ni Joey. Pumunta ako sa party niya, sa birthday ng anak niya sa Solaire. Nung 15 minutes away from the venue ako, sumalubong siya sa akin, hawak-hawak niya ako, sabi niya, ‘Halika, Sir Joel,'” he said.
Based on the report, Joel Cruz further claimed that Kathy Dupaya accompanied him inside although he does not actually know her. The businessman also stressed that it is not true that Kathy was able to purchase expired perfumes worth P2 million from his company.
“Pakita na lang niya na mayroon akong mga text messages. Kasi nga, ang problema sa kanya, marami siyang sinasabi. Salita siya nang salita, madaldal siya, dada siya nang dada,” he said.
Aside from putting down the two accusations, Joel Cruz also stressed that the highest officials in the Bureaus of Internal Revenue say that Aficionado is one of the clients who are good payers in the field of perfume selling.
The businessman called out to Kathy Dupaya to focus on giving back the money that was invested. He stressed that those were hard-earned money.
