Magnitude 5.2 Earthquake Jolts Mindanao

The state volcanology agency Phivolcs announced that a magnitude 5.2 earthquake has struck the Davao Oriental in Mindanao.

On late Wednesday evening (June 13, 2018), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that Davao Oriental province has been struck by a magnitude 5.2 earthquake.

The quake’s epicenter was located at 32 km Southeast of Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental around 10:59 pm on Wednesday.

Philvolcs said that the moderately strong tremor is tectonic in origin and has a depth of 135 km.

The tremor was felt in neighboring areas of Surigao del Sur and different intensities have been also recorded in different areas.

  • Intensity III – Davao City
  • Intensity II – Mati, Davao Oriental, Mabini, Compostella Valley, and General Santos City

Magnitude 5.2 Earthquake

As of now, there are no damage or injuries have been reported yet, according to the Davao Oriental provincial disaster risk reduction and management.

However, the volcanology agency expects aftershocks.
