Septic Tank Discharging Waste Towards Boracay Waters Discovered By Authorities

A septic tank discharging wastes towards Boracay waters have been discovered by the authorities few weeks after the rehabilitation has started.

A few weeks ago, the Philippines government has closed the famous Boracay Island to the tourists to allow the government to rehabilitate and restore the island.

Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte called Boracay Island as a “Cesspool” due to the indescribable amount of waste found in the popular tourist spot.

Boracay will be closed to the public for 6 months to give rest and let the island rejuvenate itself for its total restoration.

Recently, the Facebook page “Protect Boracay” has uploaded the photos of an old creek converted to septic tank found in the famous island, which allegedly throws its wastes towards the water.

The authorities were still validating the name of the store wherein the septic tank has been found.

The water coming out to the beach is not a natural creek water anymore but a wastewater coming from the septic tank.

Here’s the full post:

“The old creek, is confirmed to have been converted to septic tank, and discharge is coming from one of the stores nearby. (still validating the store name).

(zoom 3rd photo, you will see water held inside the tank)

Apparently the tank leaked, the water that goes out to the beach is no longer the natural creek water but a septic tank waste water.”

The social media users have also expressed their reactions regarding the discovery:
