PDEA Set To Reveal Names Of Barangay Officials Under Duterte’s Narco List
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was set to reveal the names of the barangay officials included on Duterte’s narco list.
On Wednesday (April 25, 2018), PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino said that the agency will release the names of barangay officials under the narco list of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Aquino revealed that there are 216 barangay officials across the country who were included on the list, which has been already validated and set to be released this week.
“Ilalabas po within the week po. Ang total po lahat dapat is 297. Pero marami na po kaming naaresto, marami na rin pong namatay. Merong natural death. So ang natitira na lang po ay 216,” Aquino said quoted by ABS-CBN.
The agency’s chief also clarified that PDEA had already gathered enough evidence against those barangay officials under narco list.
PDEA’s move comes just a few weeks before the barangay and SK elections on May 14.
The barangay officials linked to illegal drugs will face corresponding charges, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
