Filipino Athlete Phil Younghusband’s Winning Kicks Brings Azkals To Asian Cup
The Filipino football player Phil Younghusband’s winning kicks had brought the Philippine Azkals to the Asian Cup for the first time.
Phil Younghusband took a penalty in the 90th minute of their AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers match against Tajikistan, which sustains the team through the second half of the game.
With the help of about 4, 600 Filipino fans cheering for Younghusband, the football player successfully fired the penalty kick leading them to secure a score of 2-1 win.
It was also the Filipino-British player’s 50th international goal in 97 matches for the Philippine men’s national team.
Younghusband said in an earlier interview that if he could score the 50th and win the game would be perfect.
The 30-year-old athlete is now much excited about the bigger things that would come as the Azkals got qualified for the Asian Cup for the first time.

“For me, the feeling of going to the Asian Cup, that’s what matters to me. Like I said, if it came from this game or in ten games’ time, that wasn’t on my mind. It was about getting the win. If we’d won with my own goal, that meant more for me. To have the feeling at the same time makes it more special.” Younghusband said quoted by ABS-CBN.
