AGATON – Here is the latest update about the tropical depression Agaton after making a landfall and heavy rainfall warnings to some parts of the country.
After making a landfall in the Dinagat Islands-Siargao Island area at 1 am, Agaton has slightly accelerated over the Bohol Sea.
The state weather bureau PAGASA announced that the tropical depression is already 95 kilometers east of Tagbilaran City, Bohol, now moving west at 25 kilometers per hour (km/h) from the previous 22 km/h at the time of landfall, as per 5 a.m. bulletin.
The tropical depression has maximum winds of 55 km/h and gustiness of up to 90 km/h, also its strength when it hit land.
Signal number 1 is raised over:
- Palawan
- Southern Leyte
- Bohol
- Cebu
- Siquijor
- Guimaras
- Negros Oriental
- Negros Occidental
- Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island
- Agusan del Norte
- Dinagat Islands
- northern Misamis Oriental
- Camiguin
- Zamboanga del Norte
And lately, based on the 7 a.m. bulletin of the state weather bureau on their official page on Facebook, Orange warning level was raised in Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Iloilo, and the southern portion of Antique.
A yellow warning is in places such as Aklan, Capiz, and the rest of Antique.
The information is based on current radar trends and other available meteorological data.
Another bulletin issued at 7 in the morning of January 2 stated, “At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “Agaton” was estimated based on all available data at 95 km East of Tagbilaran City, Bohol (9.6ᴼN, 124.7ᴼE) with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is forecast to move West at 25 kph. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon.”
