Most Filipino People Still In Favor Of President Duterte, War On Drugs, International Study Says

Most of the Filipino people are still in favor of President Rodrigo Duterte and his anti-illegal drug campaign, according to an international study.

The anti-illegal drug campaign was launched by President Duterte after taking his office last. The war on drugs has garnered criticisms and negative feedbacks from some politicians, human rights groups, and international leaders.

The drug war of Duterte administration was linked to the Extrajudicial Killing (EJK), which thousands of lives nationwide including suspected drug personalities.

International Study

Recently, an international study “American think tank Pew Research Center” has conducted its Global Attitudes Survey. So they interviewed about 1, 000 Filipinos from February to May 2017.

The survey shows that Duterte’s war on drugs was generally popular among Filipino people and about 86 percent of Filipinos were in favor of the president. Unfortunately, 12 percent of the Filipino people are unfavorable of Duterte.

Meanwhile, the 41 percent of the Filipinos are very favorable with the leadership of Duterte and 78 percent of our countrymen approved the strategy of the president in dealing with problems of illegal drugs.

International Study

More than half of among those unfavorable of Duterte’s leadership approved his method in addressing illegal drugs, corruption terrorism, and the country’s economy.

On Saturday (September 23, 2017), Malacañang Palace has welcomed the findings of Pew Research Center but reiterated that the anti-illegal drug campaign will continue.

“The campaign against illegal drugs, as the President said, would be relentless until the drug apparatus is dismantled, the last drug pusher is out of the streets, and the last drug trafficker behind bars,” said by Malacañang in a statement.
