AFP Chief Año Says 40 Foreign Terrorists Are In PH, Tags Country As ‘Magnet’ Due To Marawi Clash

The chief-of-staff of AFP, Gen. Eduardo Año, expressed that foreign terrorists are present in the country now.

EDUARDO AÑO – Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff General Eduardo Año said that foreign terrorists are now in the Philippines.

Based on a recent news report in CNN, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philippines’ intelligence officials, top security, and foreign ministers have recently met to talk about fighting extremism.

Following their meeting, AFP Chief-of-Staff Gen. Eduardo Año expressed that foreign terrorists are now present in the country and most of them are Indonesians.

The AFP Chief also expressed that some of the rebels were from Yemen, Saudi, and there are those who came from Malaysia.

According to the report, there are 40 of them as said by the AFP Chief.

Gen. Año expressed that the ISIS are expected to be defeated in Mosul in six months as the place has excellent allied forces.

Unfortunately, the foreign terrorists are also forecasted to move to Asia most especially the Philippines.

“And because of the Marawi crisis, parang magnet itong Pilipinas. Yun yung babantayan natin,” the AFP chief expressed based on the report.

The Marawi clash has not yet been put to an end. The terrorists and the soldiers are still in a war.

Based on a previous news report, one radio broadcaster has previously claimed that he had an encounter with one of the leaders of the Maute group who attacked Marawi City.

Broadcast journalist Maulana Mamutuk claimed that he met Omar Maute and he was able to recognize him due to ‘wanted’ posters.

Mamutuk said that he was supposed to go back to their radio station to rescue his co-workers. To ease the situation, the broadcaster claimed that he told Omar that is a friend of his father, Cayamora.

He was able to interview the spokesperson of the group and he was reportedly given a password that permitted him and his friends to pass through the checkpoints set by the group.

Based on the CNN report, AFP Chief Eduardo Año expressed the possibility that Omar Maute is already dead. He said that Isnilon Hapilon is still alive and as well as Abdullah Maute.
