Here are some of the heartbreaking photos of the innocent victims of the gun battle between the government forces and the Maute Group in Marawi City.

Currently, Marawi City is under a critical situation caused by the sporadic firefights between the government troops and the ISIS-inspired Maute Group, which prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to declare martial law in the whole Mindanao.

The gun battle has started upon raiding the suspected hideout of the Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon  Hapilon in Marawi City. The leader of the terrorist group calls for reinforcement from the Maute terror group who fought back to the government security forces.

The exchange of gun shots occupied the parts of the city including government hospital, city hall, city jail, churches, schools, and universities in the area. The shootout also cut the electricity in the city and caused fear and terror to its residents.

On Wednesday (May 24, 2017), the gun battle between the government troops and the terror group have temporarily subsided. The residents grabbed the opportunity to flee to ensure their safety before the fire fight resumed.

The residents fearing for their lives were rushing to leave the city using their vehicles which jammed between the highways of Marawi City and Iligan City. Some of the residents also immediately leave the area using boats.

A Facebook user named Andy Disimban has posted the heartbreaking photos of innocent people who were victimized by the firefight in Marawi City. In the photos, it can be seen that the residents were leaving the city.
