US Vessel Backed By Japan’s Biggest Warship Over Tension In North Korea
Japan’s biggest warship was backing the U.S supply vessel as tension rises in North Korea over nuclear and ballistic missile program.
The supply vessel of the United States will be accompanied by the largest Japanese warship on their first operation since East Asian country relaxed laws limiting its military activities as the tension rises in Korean Peninsula.
The Carl Vinson aircraft carrier group and U.S ships were now heading to refuel American naval forces. North Korea has threatened the U.S vessels to sink, according to BBC report.
Japan’s role as heavily regulated military was now expanding by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, which can be only use in cases of self-defense. The acts of collective self-defense has been covered by the updates and expansions, such as protecting the equipment of an ally who also defending Japan.
The 249 meters helicopter carrier of Japan can carry up to 9 helicopters, which will depart from Yokosuka, south of Tokyo to join and protect the U.S ship on its way to Shikoku in Western Japan, according to Japan Times.
North Korea has already launched five missile test and two of them were conducted last year as they aim to build a missile that could reach the US mainland. There are also some speculations that the communist country would launch its sixth missile test sooner or later.
