‘Scotty Allen’ Build His Own iPhone Using Parts Bought In China

A man named ‘Scotty Allen’ was able to assemble his own iPhone from the electronic parts he bought from the markets in China.

Most people in the social media were showing how can they tear apart their mobile gadgets, but this American guy decided to assemble his own iPhone 6S with 16GB memory, instead of disassembling mobile devices.

Allen went to Shenzhen, China just to buy different parts in the market in building his own iPhone. He started to come up with the idea when someone told him that cellphone parts is available in the market and encouraged to build his own iPhone.

“I was with people like me, geeks who are fascinated by the electronics manufacturing scene” and “Then someone said ‘you know, I see all these cellphone parts in the markets. I wonder if you could build your own phone,” said by Allen quoted by Inquirer.

Scotty has video recorded his cruise on various market places and his interactions. He also recorded his attempts in putting up all the parts together, but he go back to the shop to seek advice on his wrong making the assembly.

Allen spent around an estimated amount of $300 or P15, 000 for the different parts and $1, 000 for the tools and equipment, which de didn’t even use. He attempted to assemble the logic board of the phone personally by piecing together all the various chips.

At one point, he admitted that he was way over his head and abandoned the project. But, Allen decided to pursue the project, through his determination and perseverance he was able to assemble his own iPhone.
