Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano filed a supplemental impeachment complaint against Pres. Duterte.
ALEJANO – A supplemental impeachment complaint has been filed by Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano against President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Based on a recent news report in Rappler, the filing of the supplemental impeachment complaint affidavit of the Magdalo Representative against the Chief Executive was done 14 days after he filed an impeachment complaint against Pres. Duterte.
The lawmaker accuse the 72-year-old President of “forging secret deals” with China in the recently-filed supplemental impeachment complaint.

According to the report, Alejano said that Pres. Duterte has allowed China to “trample upon” the rights of the Philippines and the Filipino people because he is scared to make an offense against his “Chinese friends”.
Alejano stressed that it is the duty of Pres. Duterte to insist China to respect the territorial rights and the sovereignty of the country although he is not expected to come up with a war declaration against China.
Based on the report, Pres. Duterte’s approach to China is different from the approach of former Pres. Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III as signaled by his statement during the election campaign that he is open for a joint exploration on the disputed areas with China.
Moreover, it is also stated that even though the Arbitral Tribunal has already released its side on the territorial dispute between the two countries, Pres. Duterte still expressed his willingness to share with China the resources that can be taken from the disputed seas.

Based on a previous news report, it was just recently when the first impeachment complaint has been filed against the Chief Executive.
In the first impeachment complaint against the Pres. Duterte, the grounds that were stated are: “culpably violated the constitution,” “engaged in bribery,” “betrayed public trust,” “committed graft and corruption,” and “committed other high crimes.”
Reportedly, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella previously claimed that Vice Pres. Leni Robredo could be behind the first impeachment complaint against the President.
The Vice President has already shared in one press interview that she has already told the President that she is not the person behind the impeachment complaint against him and Pres. Duterte responded that he knows it.
