HURT NETIZEN – A Facebook user took to the social media platform an open letter to the European Parliament.
Recently, the call of the European Parliament to the government for the immediate release of detained Sen. Leila De Lima has sparked lots of news headlines and elicited reactions.
One Facebook user, Rolaiza Mimi Singayao, took to the social media through an open letter her reaction to the call of the EP to the government. Based on the post on her Facebook account, Singayao is a Filipino Moro-Lumad and she works abroad.
According to her, her support to the then-Davao City Mayor and now-Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has undergone “careful study.”
The netizen stated in her open letter that she is “in a journey” with her fellow Filipino people, under the Duterte Administration, in putting an end to criminality, corruption, and provide solution for the effects of the country “being almost a narco state”.
“Leila De Lima is one sorry manifestation of how narcopolitics has gotten firm hold in our country,” the netizen expressed in her letter.
Moreover, she stated in the open letter that detained Sen. De Lima is not a “political prisoner.” According to her, the Filipino people know the reason why the lady Senator has been sent to jail while the charge filed against is undergoing the process.
The netizen asked the EP to know the Filipino people and the “true state of matters” in the country.
“We are deeply saddened, hurt and indignant of how the European Parliament disrespects our will as a sovereign people,” she stated.
According to Singayao, the Filipinos who are obeying the law were not killed but alive and geared with hope due sparked by the engagement in the building of the nation under the leadership of Pres. Duterte.
Furthermore, the netizen expressed that the Filipino people do not only back the Chief Executive but also love him.
Singayao ended her open letter asking the EP not to interfere but to “respect the Filipino nation.”
The open letter circulated abruptly on the social media and has already reached more than nine hundred shares. Lots of netizen expressed support and affirmation to the statement of Singayao.
Based on a previous news report, the EP, through a resolution, has called for the government to release Sen. De Lima and expressed condemnation to the extrajudicial killings that are related to the campaign of the administration against the illegal drugs.
