Trillanes: ‘All eyes will be on Lascañas’

Sen. Trillanes shared that SPO3 Lascañas is invited by a Senate committee on a hearing.

SENATE COMMITTEE – Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV shared in a phone interview that retired police officer SPO3 Arthur Lascañas was invited by the Senate Committee on public order and dangerous drugs on a hearing.

Since SPO3 Lascañas laid down his claims against Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, his name has been continuously appearing in news headlines. Recently, a news report entailing that Sen. Trillanes shared that the retired cop was invited by a Senate committee in a hearing broke in.

Based on a report in Inquirer, the Senator shared in a phone interview that on Wednesday, he met with the retired police officer to hand him a copy of the invitation from a Senate committee for the hearing which will be held today.

Sen. Trillanes said to Inquirer that “all eyes will be on Lascañas” as the retired cop is seen to be the primary focus of the Senate hearing according to the news report. The senator also expressed that SPO3 Lascañas will be giving more details aside from those that his affidavit entail.

According to Sen. Trillanes, the retired Davao City policeman “believes” that the move “is a spiritual act to cleanse himself” – some kind of “atonement”.

Based on the news report, the Senator expressed that the lawmakers could check the retired cop’s consistency regarding his claims. He also said that the people would witness if the lawmakers are “lawyering” Pres. Duterte.

Reportedly, SPO3 Lascañas pinned down Pres. Duterte when he expressed his claims on a media conference. The retired police officer claimed that Pres Duterte, during the time that he was the mayor of Davao City, tasked his group to kill radio broadcaster Jun Pala.

According to SPO3 Lascañas, the then-Mayor of Davao City was very angry towards the radio broadcaster for he always attacks him in his radio station. In exchange for taking away the life of Pala, they were paid P3-million.

Meanwhile, based on a previous news report, the retired cop was allegedly initially paid P50-million to testify against the Chief Executive as one unnamed source of Maharlika has claimed.

According to the report, Maharlika said that her source claimed that the retired officer would be given another P50-million in case the issue would be opened again and he would be able to speak lies against Pres. Duterte.

The unnamed source also said that the testimony of the retired cop that he killed his brothers is not true. According to Maharlika, the source said that it was the police authorities who did it to his drug-involved siblings.
