Phivolcs Gives List Of Latest Earthquake Information, Seismic Activities

Take a close look at the list of the latest earthquake information and seismic events from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

On Sunday (March 05, 2017), Surigao City has been struck by another magnitude 5.9 earthquake, which ruined some walls in the area. The quake killed at least one person and injured several numbers of people.

The quake was felt by nearby places of Surigao City including Limasawa, San Ricardo, San Juan, and San Francisco in Southern Leyte. It was also felt by the residents of General Luna, Surigao del Norte, and Ormoc City. It also shut down the power in the city for several hours.

Aftershocks were also experienced by the residents of Surigao City after it was struck the earthquake. The cl(–foul word(s) removed–) in the province were suspended by the governor of Surigao del Norte. Phivolcs said that the Sunday morning’s quake was only an aftershock of magnitude 6.7 earthquake last February.

Phivolcs also released the latest earthquake information and seismic events happening nationwide to keep the Filipino people updated. The agency wanted to give advance information and notice to make us more aware and well-prepared.
