PNP Chief Bato On De Lima: ‘Relax na relax siya’

PNP Chief dela Rosa revealed the condition of Sen. De Lima inside the detention cell.

PNP CHIEF – Philippine National Police Chief Director Gen. Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa described the condition of Sen. Leila De Lima inside the detention cell in Camp Crame.

The arrest of Sen. De Lima has undeniably sparked lots of news reports. Based on a recent report in ABS-CBN News, the head of PNP has shared about the condition of the lady Senator inside her detention cell in the PNP headquarters.

According to the news report, PNP Chief Bato, speaking at a media conference, said that he personally checked on the condition of the lady Senator on her first night in the detention cell after her arrest.

The PNP Chief said that he asked permission from Sen. De Lima and he checked if the Senator is safe in her detention cell. The head of PNP expressed that the lady Senator has welcomed him.

Moreover, he also shared that Sen. De Lima is relaxed in her cell and she did not shed a tear when they talked.

“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Kung security ang problema mo Ma’am, safe na safe ka dito’ [I told her, ‘If security is your problem Ma’am, you are very safe here’],” said the PNP Chief.

Based on the news report, PNP Chief Bato expressed an assurance that there would be fairness of treatment among the other high-profile detainees and that Sen. De Lima will not be given a special treatment.

Based on a previous news report, it was the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 which issued warrants of arrest against Sen. De Lima, Ronnie Dayan, and Rafael Ragos.

Dayan is the former driver, bodyguard, and lover of the neophyte Senator. He was also the alleged ‘bagman’ of Sen. De Lima who is now facing allegations regarding her involvement in the drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison when she was still the Secretary of the Department of Justice.

The lady Senator is one of the staunch critics of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs. She and the Chief Executive has engaged in exchanges of intense statements last year.

Reportedly, the lady Senator was even given an international award for standing up against Pres. Duterte. On the other hand, Sen. De Lima is included in the President’s list of government officials who are allegedly protectors of illegal drugs.
