Peace Talks Offered By Inday Sara Duterte To NPA Communist Rebels
Inday Sara Duterte, Davao City Mayor has offered peace to the New People ‘s Army (NPA), which contradicts her father’s move with rebels.
Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte terminated the peace talks with rebels due to at least 5 soldiers killed in Mindanao during the clash against NPA. He also urges the communist leaders involved in peace talks to surrender themselves. A chief executive also said that peace talks with rebels might not happen in this generation.
On Monday (February 20, 2017), the presidential daughter recently offered peace with communist rebels in Davao City, which is contrary from the previous announcement and declaration of her father. She also said that her offer is only limited to her area of responsibility only.
Sara said that she’s willing to listen if the communist rebels are also willing to talk. She explained that doesn’t accept individuals to voluntarily surrender but she wanted to talk to NPA as a whole group.
She also emphasized her the advantages of her offer and she also wanted to hear the voice of the communists. The presidential daughter explained that her offer can provide more benefits for the rebels and to all Dabawenyos.
“In the event that you will decline my offer, I can only pray that there will be no more deaths and leave everything to AFP and to God,” said by Sara Duterte quoted by ABS-CBN.
