Pilipino Workers Center Reacts To Duterte’s Remarks On Undocumented Filipinos

The Pilipino Workers Center has spoken regarding the statement of Pres. Duterte on undocumented Filipinos.

Pilipino Workers Center’s Associate Director Lolita Lledo spoke regarding the statement of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte on undocumented Filipinos.

Recently, news reports entailing the remarks of Pres. Duterte to undocumented Filipinos in the United States broke in.

Reportedly, during a news briefing in Malacañang Palace, the President addressed undocumented Filipinos abroad to go out of the country if they are not allowed there. He said that he “will not lift a finger” in case they are “caught and deported” since it is against the law.

Furthermore, the 71-year-old President said that he “will not interfere” and he respect the policies that U.S. Pres. Donald Trump has set to protect his country.

Recently, ABS-CBN‘s Ron Gagalac reported that lots of Filipinos in the United States were really ‘dismayed’ with the remarks of Pres. Rody Duterte.

According to the news report, the Pilipino Workers Center and the Search To Involve Filipino Americans (SIPA-USA) are two of those who were disappointed with the remarks of the 71-year-old President.

“Presidente Duterte, marami sa mga miyembro sa mga undocumented dito sa Amerika sumuporta sayo, mga avid fans mo, nagkampanya sa Facebook at lahat-lahat,” Pilipino Workers Center’s Associate Dir. Lolita Lledo said based on the news report.

According to the report, the undocumented Filipinos feel that they were deserted for there was no aid for them in the midst of the trouble that they are facing now.

Furthermore, the company expressed their understanding that the Chief Executive is only obeying the rules but he should also aid them as they face trouble according to the report. There are some Pinoy immigrants who are hopeful that Pres. Duterte would aid them by other means.
