Teddy Locsin Jr: Robredo Was Not The First VP Neglected By President
Vice President Leni Robredo was not the first VP neglected by the Philippine President, according to former Makati City congressman Teddy Boy Locsin Jr.
Robredo is currently facing a lot of issues and controversies as vice president of the Philippines. Leni came from the “Liberal Party,” which former President Benigno Aquino III is the president. Duterte and Robredo might have a conflict for they came from different parties.
Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte won the presidency and took his office last June 30, 2016. Then he appointed Locsin as the Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations (UN).
Locsin explained that even the late President Cory Aquino also did what President Duterte does to his VP. He refers to Salvador Laurel, which was cut off by Cory after the coup attempt last August 1987.
He also cited the abolition of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos to his VP Fernando Lopez after martial law. Locsin posted his comments over the rising tension in the relationship between President Duterte and Vice President Robredo.
VP Robredo is the highest ranked official from the Liberal Party. She was accused by Duterte administration involved on Duterte ouster plot. Later, Robredo was fired by the president for her capacity as housing executive.
Social media users suggested President Duterte do his job without Robredo by firing her but Locsin said that it might not be necessary anymore. “Pass his Federal charter change of form of government & the presidency is abolished which means its vice as well,” said by Locsin quoted by politics.
The president is also the who leads the movement to implement the proposed shift to the federal system from the unitary system. Earlier, Robredo has been slammed by netizens due to the spreading #LeniLeaks, a conversation that contains the plot to oust President Duterte.
