Mayor Espinosa Points De Lima, 49 Other Officials As Kerwin’s Protectors

The affidavit of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa revealed the officials who served as his son’s drug protectors.

Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa implicated Senator Leila de Lima and 49 individuals as protectors of his son, Kerwin, who is a drug lord in Eastern Visayas.

This was based on the affidavit of the late mayor, which was released two days after he was killed inside the detention facility in Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail.

The six-page affidavit of Espinosa was taken by Albuera policemen in August 2016.

Here, he also tagged several local government officials and ranking police officers who served as coddlers, aside from de Lima.

Other than De Lima, Espinosa also pointed a Governor Petilla, a Vice Governor Loreto, and generals Dolina, Loot and Espina.

According to Albuera, Leyte chief of police Chief Inspector Jove Espenido, Espinosa had identified 226 people who provided protection to the illegal drugs business of Kerwin.

Earlier, it was admitted by the mayor that his son is considered to be the largest drug lord in Eastern Visayas.

Like what she did previously, de Lima denied the accusations on the affidavit.

In a text message, the female senator said: “Another invention from their factory of lies. #InventPaMore.”

On the other hand, former PNP Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina has issued a statement to clarify his name.

He said “police investigators have determined and concluded that Victor L. Espina Jr., my brother-in-law, indeed used my name and took advantage of the position I held then in 2015 and made it appear before the Espinosas that I was aware of the reported illegal transactions he made with them.”

“As a result of this extensive fact-finding investigation, charges have reportedly been filed against Victor Espina Jr. before the court for trial,” Espina added.

He noted that God has kept him steadfast in his course not to give in to the temptations like those posed by such persons as this Kerwin Espinosa.

Leyte Rep. Ching Veloso, meanwhile, in a Facebook post said:

“I could not have influenced or protected people I never met… I had neither the opportunity nor the need to meet Kerwin Espinosa or his witnesses.”

“I also could not have protected Espinosa in any of my roles as Commissioner, Justice, Professor, a retired private citizen, or as a 1- month old Congressman,” he added.
