The officials of Negros Occidental are alarmed to the spread of fake products which are preferred by consumers because they are cheaper.
The officials of the provincial government of Negros Occidental found out that there is a spreading of fake products around the province.
Upon discovery, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan called for a public hearing to know how far have these fake products gone in the province.
Fake products that have been making rounds the public markets and sari-sari stores around Negros Occidental include shampoo, toothpaste, detergent bar and powder, bath soap, noodles and even food supplements and generic medicines.
The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) also disclosed that they have discovered that even anti-rabies and anti-tetanus vaccines are also being faked but it has not yet reached Negros Occidental.
Fake vaccines are monitored in the nearby province, Iloilo, and some other parts of Western Visayas.
Vice-Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson said that the proliferation of fake products is alarming and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is finding ways to put a stop to it in the soonest possible time.
He hinted that one of the signs that the product is fake is the price which is 40 to 50 percent.
