In a report on GMA News, LRMC Operations Director Rodrigo Bulario, said that they are very proud to hire Dela Paz as there lady driver as it shows the “company’s belief that skills and competence are not gender-specific.”
Bulario added that Dela Paz has shown “prowess, customer-orientation, and willingness to learn the LRMC’s customer-focused mind-set. Dela Paz was among the 30 train drivers added by the company for the Project Arangkada campaign.
LRMC also added 105 station tellers and 25 station supervisors for the goal to add more trips every day and open more teller booths at LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) stations.
Dela Paz has something to say to people who might feel uncomfortable about her driving:
“‘Wag naman sila matakot kasi nag-training naman kami. Kaya alam naman namin kung paano gagawin ‘yung trabaho namin,” Dela Paz said.
[They (people) do not need to be afraid because we were trained. And we know our jobs.]
Here are the inclusions of the training sessions on technical and practical aspects undergone by Dela Paz:
- Safety communication
- Incident/accident management
- Fault reporting
- Basic train driving and intervention
- And, Hauling procedures
The Light Rail Manila Corporation started the operations and management of the LRT-1 since September 2015 up to the present.
