Chef Peter de Cauwer, who has been living in Davao City with his Filipino wife, said he was prepared to cook anything for the country’s new leader, presumptive president Mayor Rody Duterte. The well-known chef and baker is expected to whip up common Filipino fare such as fried galunggong, inununan or fish paksiw, and monggo soup.

During an exchange witnessed by some reporters in Davao City, the former Davao City Mayor asked the Belgian Chef in Cebuano language if he knew how to cook monggo and the chef replied that there is no problem with him cooking monggo and anything the chief executive wants him to offer.

Aside from cooking for the President of the Republic of the Philippines, the Belgian Chef also wanted to be part of securing Mayor Duterte once he assumed office in Malacanang Palace. He was quoted as saying during an interview that “I want to protect him kasi maybe someone will put poison in his food,” he said.
