Philippines is considered as one of the worst in Asia, ranking second slowest in terms of download spped among the 22 other Asian countries. The slow internet connection in the Philippines is considered as one of the country’s problems and Mayor Duterte revealed his plans on how to resolve the issue once elected as President.
During a forum at the University of the Philippines, the tough talking Mayor Duterte stated that in order to solve the slow internet problem, he plans to directly confront the telecommunications officials to fix the slow Internet and he noted that he has no time to wait for discussion.
Mayor Duterte was quoted as saying “Wala akong panahong makipagdaldalan. I’d talk to the telecommunications people and ask, ‘Ano bang problema n’yo?'” Duterte said in a townhall meeting hosted by CNN Philippines.
The 70-year-old presidential candidate from Davao City also admitted that he is not updated with technology and gadgets and is unaware of the Internet. One reason why he is not updated is that he uses an old-fashioned cellular phone.
According to most netizens, the slow internet speed in the Philippines which is second worst-ranked in Asia just behind Afghanistan must be one of the primary concern among Filipinos and has become one fo the issues needed to be addressed by the government.
