Bagyong Nonoy to Enter the Philippines Over the Weekend

The country’s weather bureau, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned the Filipino public that an approaching Tropical Depression will be named Bagyong Nonoy once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

According to PAGASA’s latest weather bulletin issued on Wednesday afternoon, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was located at about 2,500 kilometers east of Mindanao and there’s a possibility that it will develop into a tropical depression by Thursday or Friday.

“If it moves westward, (the tropical depression) will reach the country by Friday or Saturday,” said forecaster Shelly Ignacio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Based upon the weekly weather forecast until December 14, PAGASA noted that the Tropical Depression would affect Metro Manila, Southern Luzon and Visayas areas.

There is also a possibility that the Tropical Depression might still weaken or change track before it could get closer to the land. PAGASA also stated that they could only give a firmer forecast by Friday, December 11, 2015.

Bagyong Nonoy will only be the 14th cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this year, which is considered as below the average of 19 to 21 cyclones the country gets each year.
