This was the reporter’s claim to which she refused to reveal the sources for her story.

Cavite Representative Elpidio Brazaga then moved Tuesday to cite the Christine Herrera for contempt after she invoked Republic Act No. 53, in refusing to reveal her stories.

The law states: “The publisher, editor or duly accredited reporter of any newspaper, magazine or periodical of general circulation cannot be compelled to reveal the source of any news-report or information appearing in said publication which was related in confidence…”

Herrera in the published articles said some members of the House confirmed that they received the bribe, describing it as “barya barya” or loose change.

However, the reporter refused to name the high ranking officials of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and of the House, some representatives which she added as her sources.

In her articles, Wang Bo allegedly paid the BI P100 million for his release after initially ordering his deportation also claiming that Wang Bo gave another P440 million for lawmakers.
