Kapamilya actress and The Voice Kids coach Sarah Geronimo admitted that she is affected with her two artists Lyca Gairanod and Darren Espanto who were pitted against each other by their respective fans and followers, a year after The Voice Kids aired its first season.
The 10-year-old Lyca Gairanod was crowned as the first-ever winner of “The Voice Kids,” while Darren Espanto was the runner-up during the competition, both artists were mentored by Sarah Geronimo during their The Voice stints.
Sarah Geronimo revealed to the media in an interview for the competition’s second season, that she can’t help but affected by the rivalry of her two prized artists.
The singer-actress was quoted as saying “Kasi naging coach nila ako at parte ako ng isyu na ‘yun,” she said. “Parang na-misinterpret ako ng tao sa pag-campaign ko sa isang bata. Kaya paulit-ulit akong nagsasabi kung gaano ako ka-proud sa achievement ni Darren, sa achivement ni Lyca at kung gaano ako naniniwala sa tiwala ni Lyca.”
The young actress Sarah Geronimo also defended the winner of The Voice Kids, from criticism that the only reason she won was because of her back story. Lyca Gairanod’s story as a scavenger and performing for her neighbors for extra cash caught the attentions of The Voice fans.
Both aspiring young singers Lyca Gairanod and Darren Espanto are now busy preparing for their respective shows. Lyca Gairanod is now promoting her album “Pwede Ang Mangarap,” while Darren Espanto is busy with his taping for a still-untitled project under Yam Laranas.
