MMDA Imposed 3-Day Truck Ban for INC Centennial Celebration

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Friday, that they will impose a truck ban on some portion of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and several roads from July 26 to July 28, 2014 for the centennial celebration of the country’s homegrown religious group, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).

According to MMDA the INC will celebrate its 100th anniversary in the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan this coming Sunday, July 27, 2014. The government agency noted that a total of 10,000 buses and 2,400 vans carrying INC delegates are expected to flock to the arena as early as Saturday.

MMDA noted that all trucks-for-hire will not be allowed to pass through the NLEX, from Balintawak Tollgate to Angeles City Exit in Pampanga and vice versa, from Saturday, July 26 up to Monday, July 28, 2014.

Although the truck-for-hire will be ban in some areas of NLEX, trucks that are carrying perishable goods and food items are exempted from the 3-day truck ban. Aside from the NLEX areas under the MMDA ban, other roads covered by the ban are McArthur Highway, Cagayan Valley Road from Sta. Rita Exit, and all provincial roads in Bulacan that will be used as parking areas for INC members.

The MMDA also announced the designated parking areas for the INC Centennial celebration includes, Sta. Maria bypass, Balagtas bypass along McArthur Highway from Monumento to Calumpit, Bulacan. A portion of Mindanao Avenue Extension will be closed also for parking purposes.
